NY CATHARINE — Catharine Town Board approves highway spending plan and accepts court improvement grant. The board unanimously approved Highway Superintendent Marty Vondracek's 2026 CHIPS expenditure proposal and accepted a $16,943.21 grant for courtroom improvements, including a heat pump, defibrillator unit, and painting. The highway department is recruiting to fill a position vacated by an April 9 resignation while managing rising material costs, with sand at $10 per ton and gravel at $4.60 to $5.50 per ton.
