NY CATHARINE — Catharine Town Board formally opposes NYSEG rate increases to state regulators. The board unanimously adopted Resolution 13-2026, authorizing Supervisor Richard Lewis to submit formal complaints to the New York State Public Service Commission regarding escalating electric delivery charges. The resolution asserts that residents, seniors, and small businesses in Catharine face "unsustainable, repeated, and compounding" rate increases and that rural communities are "disproportionately impacted" by cost-recovery mechanisms.
Town Clerk Kellie A. Kretchmer will transmit copies to state officials and neighboring NYSEG-served municipalities to encourage coordinated action.
